“The aim of this workshop is to develop a deeper understanding of the various ways in which ceramics can be utilized as a medium for making architectural objects.” → Student teams will learn about basic ceramic forming techniques and get hands-on experience through guided exercises, leading them to create their own unique object. Course Highlights: → Brief history of ceramic usage in architecture (from ancient times to present). → Objective determination and development process of product design. → Bonding processes and how bonding can be applied to ceramics. → Material characteristics including color, strength and visual aesthetics. → Basic hand forming techniques (slip casting, pinch-pulling and coiling).
Join us for our ceramic workshop this weekend! You will be led in the process of mold making and wall casting. Learn the history of ceramics and gain skills in making, glazing, and firing a piece of ceramic art. This month we’re turning the traditional Long Table into a studio format where we’ll have hands on opportunities for students to get creative.
