Vidya Sagar is a pioneer organization working for persons with disabilities for the past 35 years. We provide a range of services across the lifespan for people with multiple disabilities and their families, running several programs, and reaching out to over 3800 individuals with disabilities.
TARA, a project of Vidya Sagar, aims to work on making homes and workplaces accessible for persons with disabilities and the elderly thereby facilitating Independent living.
One-day workshop
Architecture education in India primarily focuses on understanding the design needs of the able-bodied population leaving a vast majority of diversity behind. A significant gap is observed when this community of architects and designers work in the public realm and design spaces for the community, unaware and insensitive towards the needs of persons with visible and invisible disabilities.
Catering to this gap, TARA has designed a one-day workshop called – ‘Disability-Access’ bringing an opportunity for the students to meet and interact with persons with disabilities (PwDs) and make the community of upcoming architects & designers, more aware of their life, aspirations and the barriers they face while participating fully in society.
This workshop will be an introduction to disability & accessibility and will equip students with inclusive design thinking methodologies.
